It got me thinking. It doesn't seem like many minutes since Mikey was Dot's age, and trying to roll over, grab things and eat his hands. Now he's only got a few months left at primary school. It's crazy.
Being a single mum, I worked when I had Mikey. I was lucky enough to see him roll over for the first time and watch him walk across the room for the first time, but I missed out on the day to day things.
I always shrugged it off when people used to say, " it'll fly by, make the most of it." I laughed at them. Time doesn't go by any faster than normal.
But I was wrong. This week has really made me realise that time is precious, especially the time we spend with family.
We all make a note of the special milestones our children reach, but we don't usually note down about the day that we all had a great time at the seaside, the lovely walk we took on a summer's evening, the den we built in the garden or the rainy day we built a city out of lego.
Family has always been important, but I think it is more so now.
It might've taken me 10+ years to realise it, but time does fly by, and from now on, I'm going to make every second count.
