Hi all! My apologies for not updating sooner!
It's been 2 months since I told you I was embarking on a mission to lose weight. (read more here) , so here's what I've been up to.
Exercise:The past 2 months have had its up and downs. I started by exercising a lot, then a little, and then not at all, before starting again and finding a reasonable balance.
I've always had the best intentions with exercise and I buy exercise DVDs and do use them to begin with, but it's hard to find time and stick to it rigidly.
However, I've found something great. We have an Xbox and as I've always been a bit of a gamer, I had a look at the Xbox Fitness. It has lots of exercise DVDs you can work out to, but with a difference.
Using the Kinnect, I can exercise along with the video, while it monitors how I'm doing the exercise, encourages me and I can earn points and unlock challenges.
For anyone who doesn't have an Xbox or know what I'm talking about, I apologise for not explaining it very well!
I found that it's a great motivation and it makes me work harder to beat the challenges and my personal best.
Diet:So in these past 2 months, my diet has gone pretty well overall.
I started eating healthy and I'm even eating fruit, which, for those who know me, is a big deal. ( I can't stand it!)
I also upped my protein and lowered my carb intake, while giving up crisps and chocolate. There were a few slip ups, especially at the weekends, but overall it's gone well.
A few days ago, I have found out that I have a gluten allergy, which means that my carb intake will continue to be pretty low for the foreseeable future. I was a bit worried about what that would mean for me, but as I am used to checking labels for my son, I'm okay with it now.
Weight loss wise, it'll be good as it means that if I want cakes or biscuits I will have to make them myself with gluten free flour. Usually if I have a craving, I want it then and there, so the effort of making myself a cake seems too much!
Monitoring:I'm no longer using a planner for my exercises, but I try make sure to get at least half an hour every day.
I also use an app called "My Diet Coach." It really helps me stay on track. It has a food diary, a chart for your weight loss and motivational tips and quotes. It also allows you to upload motivational photos.
Figures:So here are the numbers for the past two months:
Weight: 190lb (13st 8lb)
Waist: 41 in
Hips: 44 in
Tummy 44 in
Bust: 44 in
END OF OCTOBER '15
Weigh in: 174lb (12st 6lb)
Waist: 37 in
Hips: 41 in
Tummy 40 in
Bust: 41 in
Weeks getting healthy: 7
Total loss target: 60 lb
Weight loss so far: 16lb
I still have a long way to go, but I'm getting there!
