7 Goals for 2016




So it's 2016! Happy New Year everyone! I hope you've all had a great holiday with loved ones.

We've been under the weather here, with chest infections, colds and general ickyness, but it was still good to spend time with the people that are most important.


I always make New Year resolutions, but forget about them or give up within days or weeks. I decided that this year would be different. I have picked 7 things that are realistic and that I WILL keep this year.

Here goes:


1. Cook More

I've always aspired to be more like my mum. Both her and my dad have worked all their lives, but my mum could still make sure that all 6 of us had a home cooked meal every day. She can also make anything from scratch and I'd love to be able to do that, so I'm trying to learn to make as many home cooked meals as possible!


2. Learn to Relax

My husband can attest to this point! I find it hard to relax and I definitely let the little things bother me. I always try to be calm, but it never lasts. I even have mugs that are supposed to help me chill, but they've not really worked! However, I'm going to try to make sure that 2016 is the year that I actually do!


3. Have More Family Time

I love it when we all spend time together, especially as work and school seem to be getting in the way! This year we have agreed on a way that we can spend some quality time together by having at least one family activity every week, be it a 'board game' night or a walk somewhere new.


4. Spend Less Money

As a family, we don't spend an extravagant amount or buy extravagant things, but I myself have a bit of a habit of buying something without thinking about it, like a DVD.

I signed up to Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert emails about 6 months ago, and although I read them, I'm only now starting to take some of the advice on board. Already, I've saved nearly £100 on car breakdown cover and £150 on home insurance just by shopping around!


5. Blogging

I've been blogging for nearly a year, and I would love to spend more time on my blog, especially as I think I've found the direction it should go in, or rather, it found me!
After being diagnosed with coeliac disease a few months ago, as well as my son having multiple life threatening food allergies, I have become a mum blogger who also blogs about the free from life, and I love it!

Now I've found the right direction, my blog will be also be getting a new fresh look within the next few weeks. Start as I mean to go on!


6. Get Healthy

As I've said many times before, I would love to lose weight, but I also want to get healthy. I figure that there is no point in losing a lot of weight if I have no energy to run after my family!


7. Clear Out the Clutter

I am not one for throwing things away. In fact, far from it! I've read some great posts over on Money Saving Mom, and a couple of them really got me thinking. I don't need a cupboard in the kitchen full of pots and dishes I NEVER use. I always moan about them being there, but I don't do anything about it, until now!


I think these are all doable and I'm strangely looking forward to them! I will make sure to keep you updated in the process!

  1. I was nodding along as I read this, so many of these are the same for me! Sorry about your health issues lovely, I know going gluten free can be quite a challenge but I am sure you are more than up to it.
