Last Spring, we decided that we wanted to update the garden, giving it a brand new look. You may have seen my original post about updating the garden and the first update of our progress.
Well, my husband and our family have been busy and I finally have a new update for you all!
This is what the garden looked like before we started:
So we wanted to completely strip the garden back and start again. We decided that we didn't want the lawn anymore, replacing it with artificial grass instead.
However, there has been and still is a lot of work to be done before that happens!
To make things tougher, Mark suggested having the garden at two different levels, which sounded great to begin with, but I didn't realise how much work it would be for him!
You may remember my last update where they dug it all out!
Luckily, the bottom level has pretty much been dug up and is now looking a lot less like Time Team and more like Ground Force!
We had to put the garden on hold for one thing and another, but now the bad weather is almost behind us, the boys have been in the back garden again.
Over the past week, this is what they've done:
- Dug out and over all flower beds
- Built some raised beds and borders
- Planted some old and new plants in the raised beds
- created Gabion cage walls
So this is my new view to the back garden:
We're still a way to go, but I'm so proud of Mark :)
Although the plan was to get the garden finished for the end of last Summer, we were greatly over estimating! The new plan is for the start of this Summer, but I'm optimistic, so I'm hoping for the end of May. Either way, it'll soon be ready for BBQ season!!
I'll keep you posted on any new developments :)
