PLAY!ing at Chester Zoo

Tuesday, 8 August 2017

Finding things to do for children that is just that little bit different can be hard. You need an attraction or activity that will be a fun day out, entertain and maybe even inform all of the family, whatever their ages.
This is something that we've found difficult as there is a ten year gap between Mikey and Dot. So when we were given the opportunity to visit Chester Zoo, we couldn't say no!

A few years ago, we visited when I was (very) pregnant with Dot, so I remembered how great it was, although we didn't get all the way around it due to me being too tired! I was really looking forward to going back and to see what had changed.

It turned out, a lot had changed!

In the centre of the park, there is now a specially designed play area, Madagascar PLAY! space, where you can explore, climb and slide!

Both Dot and Mikey had a brilliant time exploring and playing :)

There isn't only a new play area though. There are also other PLAY! areas across the zoo. They really make the day great fun!

There are signs that tell you what to do:

Stepping stones to avoid crocodiles:

And even puddle splashing:

One of my favourite things though were some of the signs...

...although the idea of a tarantula that could fly would be one of my worst nightmares!

It was great to see so many people taking part as we walked around the zoo and it wasn't just children. At one sign, "Flap like a bird" I saw a large group of grown ups all flapping as they walked past it! The signs really do add to the fun of the day :)

Of course, a trip to the zoo would be nothing without the animals, so here are a few of our favourite animals from the day!

We also took some cheetahs home!

There was so much to see and do, we were there right up until closing time and had a blast. We made so many brilliant new memories at Chester Zoo and we can't wait to visit again!

You can find out more about PLAY! and Chester Zoo on their website. You can also find them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
