The Great Pumpkin Challenge

Monday, 1 June 2015

It's hard to find an activity that will entertain both Mikey and Dot due to the big age difference, but not impossible.

I decided, with Mikey's approval, that they could participate in a plant growing challenge. Mikey loves gardening and is always helping his Dad in the garden or Nana and Grandad at their allotment.

I found these in the local supermarket at only a £1 each, and bought one for both Mikey and Dot.

The instructions are really easy to follow and we quickly planted the seeds and watered them, before putting them in a sunny place.

One week on from beginning this challenge, this is how the pumpkins are getting on:

Mikey's is on the left, and Dorothy's is on the right.

At the moment, Dot is winning, but it's not a race, it's a marathon and we've got a while to go before we can start thinking about planting them in the garden. It's anyone's game!

Now, for those of you who don't know,  Dot IS only 6 months old, so for now, Mummy has been and will compete for her, but I'm willing to take on the challenge. And my son!
